Russell Blackburn

Russell Blackburn, 68, of Debord, KY, went to be with his savior on April 17, 2024. Russell was born on November 27, 1955, the son of the late Burgess and Josephine Blackburn of Debord, KY. Besides his parents, Russell was preceded in death by brothers, Earnest (Betty) Blackburn, Glen Blackburn, Earl "RB" Blackburn, Billy Joe Blackburn, and Burgess Blackburn, Jr., and two sisters, Monetta Blackburn and Ida (Bossier) Goble. Russell is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mildred McCoy Blackburn, one daughter, Sabrina (Aaron) Thompson of Pikeville, KY, one son, Brandon Blackburn of Debord, KY, two grandchildren, Sydney and Lucy Thompson of Pikeville, KY. He is also survived by two brothers, John Eddie (Doris) Blackburn, and Donald (Greta) Blackburn, and two sisters, Phyllis (Charles) Preece, and Betty Blackburn Chapman. Russell also leaves behind 4 sisters-in-law, Rose Mary Blackburn, Sharlene Blackburn, Rosa Faye Blackburn, and Brenda Blackburn. Russell worked in the coal industry for twenty years at Wolf Creek Collieries. Russell enjoyed the outdoors which included running his rabbit dogs and traveling on his side by side. Family will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services will be held on April 20, 2024 at 11 AM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Tommy Reed and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Garden. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday and Friday from 5 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
