James Franklin Harris Jr.
July 18, 1945, was a joyful day for Franklin and Estelle Harris as they welcomed their first child, James Franklin Harris, Jr., into this world. It was seventy-two years later, on September 4, 2017, when his Lord Jesus Christ took him to live forever in the Father's house in heaven. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death" (John 8:51). "Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8).
His father died when Jim was only eleven years old. He became a child of God at the age of thirteen by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ through faith in Him alone. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:16-17)
Jim graduated from Warfield High School in May of 1963. On July 11, 1965, he married the love of his life and best friend, Donna Faye Blankenship, in Warfield, KY. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Jim's birthplace, Pensacola, Florida, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Navy.
Through the Liberty Bible Institute, he completed a biblical studies program while working full time. “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2).
Jim demonstrated steadfast faithfulness in his home, in his employment with the Martin County Board of Education, and in the cause of Christ. “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2).
". . . thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty" (1 Samuel 20:18). Jim is survived by his wife; their sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Marilyn, Charles and Tammy; his brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Betty Harris; his uncle and aunt, Prentice and Billye Harris.
There will be an 11:00 a.m. graveside service in the family cemetery in Crum, WV, on Wednesday, September 6. Pastor Clyde Farley of the First Stepptown Baptist Church will be officiating. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

Robert Maynard, 85, returned to his heavenly home on September 2, 2017 after a valiant battle of illness. His devotion to family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and gave him peace in this transition.
Robert was born to the late Benjamin and Vicie Maynard, a coal miner and home maker respectively, in Pigeon Roost, KY on February 24th, 1932. He was raised to have an exceedingly high work ethic and would spend the next several decades working vario...us jobs, including laying tracks for the railroad.
Robert was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Leona Bowen on February 9th, 1952, in Inez, KY. Leona helped raise his three children with patience and a reverence for our Lord. Despite the hardships of his day, he would work tirelessly to provide for his family, spending long nights keeping the coal fire burning in the winter, tending to his garden or working to improve his home. Through his efforts, he changed the course of his family's namesake forever. His children would go serve in county government, start a church, and actively evangelize in the community. His grandchildren would go on to raise their own God-fearing families and include the first to graduate from university. The depth of pride and love he has for his children and grandchildren can only be surpassed by our gracious Lord.
We celebrate the life of Robert Maynard for all that he is and was, for the life that he lived and for the lives that continue to flourish because of him.
Robert survived by his wife, Leona; his brother Richard; his sisters Becky, Mary, Mavis and Vina; his sons Glen Ray and Bobby Gene; his daughter Louvern Horn; his grandchild Shane Robert; his great grandchildren Breanna Nichole, Justin Allen and Noelle Grace.
