Betty Alice (Stepp) Helms of Inez, KY, formerly of Pikeville, KY, departed this life to be with the Lord on July 18, 2022. A native of Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Ila (Ward) Stepp of Inez. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Helms, three sisters, Billie Jean Mills, Judy Cumbo, Lucille Wells, and one brother, Elmer Stepp. She is survived by one sister, Deanna Damron, and one brother, Gary (Deborah) Stepp, both of Inez. She is also survived by one godchild, Amanda Courtney Justice, of Pikeville, KY, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Betty was a retired Pike County Elementary teacher and a long time faithful member of the Pikeville Wesleyan Church where she taught the adult Sunday School class and was part of the church's quartet. She and her husband loyally supported various charities, including but not limited to Heralds of Christ Tidings of Joy, Inc., mission work in Haiti, as well as Hephzibah Children's Home in Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Reverends Ralph Ferree, Derek Catron and Garrett Mills officiating. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery on Chloe Road in Pikeville, KY. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
