Carma Jude (Fletcher) Sweeney

Carma (Fletcher) Jude Sweeney, age 84, of Inez, KY, passed away on October 8, 2025, at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, KY. She was born on August 10, 1941, to the late Shadle and Lizzie (Dye) Fletcher in Inez, KY. In addition to her parents, Carma was preceded in death by her first husband, Jeff Jude, her second husband, Benny Sweeney, one daughter, Barbara (Delbert) Sweeney, eleven siblings, one grandson, James Anthony “Bear” Jude, one great granddaughter, Alexis “Lexie” Jude, one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Castle, and two sons-in-law, Ronnie Ratliff and Everett Lee Sweeney.

Carma is survived by three sons, James Arthur (Shannon Goble) Jude of Lawrence County, KY, Richard Hayes (Norma Jean) Jude of Martin County, KY, and Wallace (Tammy) Jude of Lawrence County, KY, two daughters, Norma Jean (Anthony) Blevins of Johnson County, KY, and Shirley (Michael Scott) Ratliff of Wayne County, WV. She is also survived by three brothers, Arthur (Dolly) Fletcher of Martin County, KY, Herbert (Edna) Fletcher of Lawrence County, KY, and Edgar (Mary) Fletcher of Martin County, KY, two sisters, Ruby (Willard Maynard) Fannin of Martin County, KY, and Wanda (Johnny) Jude of Martin County, KY, two daughters-in-law, Creasy Jude and Treana Copley Jude, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 1 PM at the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Richard Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Jude-Fletcher Cemetery in Pilgrim, KY. Friends may visit the church on Friday, October 10th from 5 PM to 10 PM and Saturday, October 11th, from 11 AM to 10 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crum Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
