Charity May (Bowen) McCoy

Charity May McCoy, age 78, of Debord, KY passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 15, 1943 in Martin County, KY to the late Ransom and Hazel Bowen. She is preceded in death by her husband Buck McCoy, one daughter, Hazel Diane Bowen, two grandbabies, Michael Bowen and Courtney Jude, one son-in-law, John B. Scott, and her siblings, Sherman Bowen, Arizona Bowen, William Bowen, Effie Preston, and Leona Maynard. She is survived by her two daughters, Norene (Bruce) Bowen and Virgie Scott, one son, Henry "Bert" McCoy, two grandsons that she raised, Bobby and Robby Scott and one brother, Randle Bowen. She is also survived her grandbabies, Charity (Tyler) Harless, Tammy (Clayton) Speakman, Curtis (Kesha) Bowen, Laura (Slugger) Speakman, Rosanna (Tyler) Bowen, Maddison (Matthew) Maynard, Keona Bowen, Carley (Moe Moe) Bowen, Nikki Bowen, Mason (Tori) Funk, Jason (Kathy) Hall and Tiffany (Greg) Preece, 21 great grandbabies and 2 great great grandbabies, as well as many nieces and nephews. Charity May loved everyone she came in contact with. She was a homemaker and always cooked the best homemade meals ever! She always kept her doors open to her grandbabies. They would stay many nights with them! The grandbabies would go to their maw and paw if they got in trouble with their parents and maw and paw would save them so they wouldn't get into trouble! Charity May loved her family more than life itself! Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 11 AM at the Old Route 3 Independent Baptist Church with James Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the McCoy Family Cemetery on Debord. Friends may visit at the church beginning on Friday after 5 PM and all day Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
