Eldon David Simpkins

Eldon David Simpkins, age 86, of Sunbury, Ohio, formerly of Pilgrim, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 11:15 pm, with his wife and family by his side.

He was the son of Lawrence and Sadie (Bartrum) Simpkins. Eldon served 5 years in the US Army and retired from AT&T/NOKIA after 35 years.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Margaret H. (Sartin), his high school sweetheart. He was a proud father of his two sons and one daughter: David E. Simpkins of Sunbury, Ohio, Michael Lee and Tanya Simpkins of Jackson, Ohio, Debbie Rose Simpkins of Sunbury, Ohio; twelve grandchildren: Jodi (Jamie) Sexton of Alabama, Stephanie Simpkins of Sunbury, Ohio, Samantha (Patrick) Bockover of Indiana, Jennifer (Tyler) Jugg of Indiana, Jessica Simpkins (Dewy Loerzel) of Gahanna, Joey Hubbard and Matt Hubbard both of Sunbury, Michael Lee Simpkins Jr of Jackson, Ohio, Jacob Simpkins and Kaitlin Simpkins both of Columbus, Ohio, Elijah David Simpkins and Alexis Simpkins both of Jackson, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren: Bailey Lynn Sexton and Bristol Sexton of Alabama, Gideon Lee Jugg, Leia Violet Jugg, David Jugg, Addalyn Jugg, Gwen Bockover and Daniel Bockover, all of Indiana. Eldon is also survived by one brother Albert (Mary) Simpkins of Logan, Ohio, several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his brother James “Butch” Simpkins formerly of Dayton, as well as three sisters: Anna Mary Simpkins, Brenda Kaye Evans, and Ella Mae Stanley.

Eldon was a member of Zion United Baptist Church. He had Heaven in his view. He is at home in Heaven now, no more work on this earth. The Angels came and took him home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 1 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Lonnie Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Muncy Cemetery, Pilgrim, Kentucky. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday and Sunday from 3 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Snyder Funeral Home of Sunbury, OH and Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
