On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, James Everette Marcum was called Home to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 68 after a year-long battle with cancer. James was born on November 28, 1951 in Martin County to the late Julius and Mary Jane Marcum.
James was a retired coal miner and a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, ATV riding, golf, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a private man who loved his family and friends dearly and was always willing to help those in need.
James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty (Proctor) Marcum, son Michael (Priscilla) Marcum, twin grandsons Jeremy and Jordan Marcum, granddaughter Phyleesha (Jake) Karp, great grandson Sebastion Karp, daughter Tanya (Marcum) Horn, and granddaughter Erinne Horn who he affectionately called "Papaw's Frog."
James is also survived by his sisters Rosie, Emma and Kathy, brothers Donald, Ray, Chico, and Joe, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY with Brother David Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Louisa, KY. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home in Inez, KY.
