Joe Thomas Kirk

Joe Thomas Kirk, age 58, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away June 25, 2025 at his residence. He was born April 5, 1967 in Inez, Kentucky to the late Floyd and Clementine Hensley Kirk. Joe was a coal miner for 15 years. He ended his career at Daniels Branch Coal Company in Gilbert, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Samantha Jo Kirk Goble, two brothers, Elmer Kirk and Morgan Arthur "Bob" Kirk, and one sister, Mary Lillian Fannin. He leaves behind his children, Johnathan Kirk and Kelli Jo Blair (William) Scott. Grandchildren Connor Kirk, Jett Blair, Ravyn Scott, and Cage Scott. Sisters: Harriett Meade, Ida Mae Ward, Norma McCormick, Lorna Cassady and Alberta Crum. Brother: John Roy Kirk. He left behind his special nephews and great-nephew, Jeremy Kirk, Kenny Floyd Ward, James Cassady, Josh Cassady, Paul "Junior" Meade, and "Little" Rick Crum and as she would call herself, his "favorite niece," Jessica Cassady. He also leaves behind his ex-wife, turned best friend, Kathy (Jeffrey) Kirk, and his life-long friend, Brian Bowen. Special thank you to his sister who was like a second mother to him for helping care for him at the end of his life, Lorna Cassady and his sister, Norma "Susie" Kirk McCormick. He is reunited in heaven with his mom and daughter. They are rejoicing today. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, June 27, 2025 and Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 5 PM to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at the Kirk Memorial Cemetery, Inez, Kentucky. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, Kentucky.
