Johnny Stacy, age 83, of Inez, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2023, at Prestonsburg, Kentucky, in the presence of loved ones. He was born on December 15, 1939, in Wolf Creek, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and Florence Stacy. Johnny retired as a mechanic from Crum Motors Sales Ford Dealership, and was known for being able to fix almost anything, from your car to your appliance. He loved a good trade, being in the hills, sitting on the porch swing, and crafting a good tale—how much of it was true depended on the tale he was telling and which time he was telling it. A Baptist preacher, he was a devoted Christian who was a member and former assistant pastor of Bethel United Baptist Church.
He is survived by two children—Charles Franklin (Renea) Stacy and Kathy Nichols; ten grandchildren—Tiffany (Chauncey) Fannin, Richard Nichols, Jr., Leonard A. Preston, Jr., Samuel Preston, Pauline (Fred) Dietrich, April Notestone, Sarah (Connor) Wiget, Shaq Stacy and McCade Osborne; six great-grandchildren—Kane and Karoline Fannin, Kolton Nichols, and Megan, Preston, and Christopher Dietrich; siblings—Archie (Alice) Stacy, Nancy Stacy, Doug Stacy, and Jim Stacy; special friend Gertie Cox; son-in-law Ricky Nichols; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Stacy; daughter Mary Margaret Preston; grandchildren Hope Bowen, Jessie Stacy, and Steven Preston; brothers Robert Stacy and Ben Stacy; and sisters Perlie Reed, Amy Jane Turner, Outa Stacy, and Mary Moore.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, in the chapel of the Crum Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Cox Family Cemetery at Inez. Buddy Stacy will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday evenings.
Johnny will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, but especially by those who loved him dearest.
