Josephine "Granny" (Slone) Muncy

Josephine "Granny" (Slone) Muncy, age 90, of Prichard, WV, passed away on February 25th, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on July 10, 1935, to the late Ellis and Lilly (Shepherd) Slone in David, KY. Josephine held many degrees, including a bachelor's degree from Pikeville College as well as a masters plus 45 degree from Marshall University.

 In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert "Grandfather" Muncy, and three brothers, Ellis Slone Jr, Russell Slone, and Billy Slone. She is survived by her son, James Douglas (Barbara) Muncy, of Prichard, WV, two sisters, Jolene "Tootsie" Bradford of Prestonsburg, KY, and Evelyn "Penny" Shrock of Goshen, IN, and one brother, Bobby Slone of Elkhart, IN. Josephine is also survived by three granddaughters, Amanda Jo (Chad) Messer of Prichard, WV, Katrina (Travis) Parsley of Beauty, KY, and Rachel (Dexter) Chapman of Ashland, KY, and eight great grandchildren, Alexander Messer, Clint Messer, Ella Parsley, Landon Parsley, Elona Messer, Oliver Chapman, Norah Chapman, and Salem. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27th, 2026, at 1 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Reverend David Robirds officiating. Burial will follow at the Muncy Family Cemetery in Prichard, WV. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, February 27th from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
