Lewis Maynard

Lewis Maynard, age 83, of Inez, KY, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021. He was born April 12, 1937, one of ten children of Talbert and Vadie Maynard in Pilgrim, KY. Lewis was the last living sibling. He was married on April 13, 1963 to his wife, Christine Maynard. They enjoyed 58 years of wonderful marriage. Lewis worked for 20 years in the coal mines of Kentucky and West Virginia as well as many years for the Martin County School System. However, he was most importantly and passionately a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Maynard, eight sisters, Gracie Maynard, Hazel Maynard Fletcher, Elsie Maynard Mitchell, Ada Muncy, Sadie Maynard Jude, Ruby Maynard Fletcher, Ernestine Maynard Moore, and Elzavade Maynard Moore, and one great grandchild, Silas Jaxon Gilliam. He is survived by his wife, Christine Maynard of Inez, KY, one son, Leslie Maynard of Inez, KY, and two daughters, Sandy Maynard (Dwayne) Sheppard of Lovely, KY and Shelia Maynard of Inez, KY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cassie Allen, Brittany (Phillip) Spence, Tyler (Katie) O'Connor, Tori O'Connor, Zach Maynard, Dylan Maynard and Lexie Maynard, and eight great grandchildren, Blake Fletcher, Hadley Spence, Lewis Cole Spence, Asher Jaxon O'Connor, Sage Parker O'Connor, Alanna Maynard, Emily Maynard, and Mason Maynard. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Garden, Inez, KY. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 PM to 9 PM and on Wednesday beginning at 9 AM until the time of services. Per the family's request and in accordance with current guidelines, masks must be worn at all times. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
