Marion Duncan Obituary

Obituary of Brother Marion Duncan

There are a few people that you meet in life that have a tremendous influence on your life and Marion Duncan was one of those that was born with God’s love and was not afraid to show the light that God had given him.

Marion Duncan, 88, of Pilgrim, Kentucky, deceased at the Martin County Health Care Facility in Inez, Kentucky, on October 22, 2025. Brother Marion was born on June 30, 1937, to the late George and Mary Bell (Jude) Duncan in Threeforks, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertha (Blackburn) Duncan and one Brother, George (Joe) Duncan, JR, and four sisters, Pearl Duncan, Sarah (Wes) Moore, Roxie Robinson, and Betty Jean Duncan. Brother Marion is survived by two sisters, Beverly Seay of Morristown, Tennessee, and Helen Duncan of Davella, KY, two sons, Dewayne Eddie (Debbie) Duncan of Circleville, OH, and Teddy Albert (Mollie) Duncan of Ennis, TX.

Brother Marion was so thankful for his four Grandchildren. If you talked to him very long; he would talk about Ashley (Justin) Cavinee, Katelyn (Ryan) McAnelly, Amanda (Ariel) Lopez and Teddy Duncan, Jr. Then he had five Great Grand Children whom he loved so much. The first were Duncan then Vivian Cavinee, son and Daughter of Ashley and Justin, Nolan McAnelly, son of Katelyn and Ryan, and then Sebastian and Jorge Lopez, sons of Amanda and Ariel. He would tell me that Vivian would get in his lap and say Papa I am the only little girl you have, and he would agree with her. Children, Brother Marion loved you so much and lived before all he met as a man of God. Brother Marion had a heart full of love for a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, his neighbors and his beloved church family and he would show his love to them.

He and Sister Bertha loved to go to the different Associations and was known by brother and sisters and friends in several states. Because of his sickness he was not able to go to any associations for the first time in 30 years. Sister Bertha suffered for several years with an illness, and he was faithful to see she had the best of care. They loved each other with a love that preceded Bertha's Death. Brother Marion wanted to tell his sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and sons-in-law that he loved them so very much and he hoped to see them in heaven someday. Gone but not forgotten. I will close with the following scripture that describes the love he has for all, the reason for the love is that he was born of God’s love.

1st Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently. Sleep on Brother Marion we will meet you in the morning on that great resurrection day. Written by his daughter-in-law, Debbie Duncan and Elder Tommy Dials.
