Mary Ellen (Dials) Curry

Mary Ellen (Dials) Curry, age 80, received her angel wings at the St. Mary's Medical Center on May 19, 2023 after suffering from long lingering heart disease and cancer. Mary was born June 16, 1942 to the late Elder Willis and Janie (Moore) Dials in a one room cabin up Jack Cassidy Branch on Coldwater Road, Inez, KY. She was the third child out of thirteen and loved life very much. She was very high spirited, always happy and smiling and very encouraging to others. Mary's willpower to live to the very end was really strong and her faith in God got stronger each day throughout the last few years of her life. She realized without God, she could not survive here in this world alone. She was baptized by Lonnie Smith at Lovely Freewill Baptist Church in Lovely, KY on November 21, 2021. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Tom Curry, stepson Nathan Curry, and siblings, one brother, Clay Dials, four sisters, Thelma Parsons, Betty Jo Moore, Helen Dawn Blankenship, and Glenna Davis and one grandson, Cory Marcum. She leaves behind her sons and daughters, Deborah Dials (Gene Brewer) of MaCombs, MI, Candy Lynn Preece, Tammy (Leslie) Marcum of Crum, WV, Eric (Michelle Brown) of Crum, WV, Sandy Preece of Columbus, OH, stepsons, Max Curry of South Bloom, OH and Neil Curry of Columbus, OH, grandchildren, Crystal Prince, DJ, Casey Ratcliff of MaCombs, MI, Buddy Ball of TN, Ciera Kirk of Columbus, OH, Kendall Kirk of TX, Phillip Sidell of Crum, WV, Cody and Whitney Marcum of Crum, WV, and Cody, and Brianna, all of Inez, KY, and great grandchildren, Emily Sidell, Cheyanne and Bella Marcum, Nathan, Tanesha, and Sylvanna (Eric) Prince. She also has a number of great great grandchildren. Mary had a lifelong friend, Fannie Harry of Columbus, OH. They talked on the phone every day. If Mary didn't call Fannie, she would call Mary. They were close friends like sisters. They loved each other dearly. Mary and her beautiful smile, great attitude and loving heart, will be greatly missed here on earth. She always tried to look at the positive side of everything. She also leaves behind her siblings, four brothers, William "Billy" Dials of Lovely, KY, Jimmy (Barbara) Dials of Kermit, WV, Sam (Avonell) Dials of Coldwater Rd, Inez, KY, and three sisters, Ina Ruth (Donald) Hall of Prestonburg, KY, Doris (Bill) Evans of Naugatuck, WV, and Beatrice (Pie) Dials of Crum, WV. Mary will be laid to rest on Jack Cassady Branch, Coldwater Road, Inez, KY. Viewing will be at the Crum Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20th and Sunday, May 21st from 6 PM to 10 PM. Funeral services will be Monday, May 22, 2023 at 2 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Buddy Stacy, David Stacy, and Ken Allen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
