Mary Marie (Murphy) Evans

Mary Marie Murphy Evans, age 98, of Lovely, KY went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 31, 2021. Her last days were spent peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving children and family. Marie was born November 11, 1922 in Lawrence Co., KY to the late Everett Murphy and Stella Murphy Murphy. She was the mother of the church and one of the founders of the Oppy Church of God. She loved and cherished her time spent in the church working for God. She was a great prayer warrior and served the Lord for over 75 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband and soulmate Reverend Carlos Evans, a special granddaughter Brittney Nichole Marcum, five brothers, Delbert Murphy, Thurman Murphy, Frank Murphy, Chester Murphy, and Billy Ray Murphy as well as two sisters, Edith Murphy Farley and Christine Murphy Evans. She is survived by seven children, Billy Jack and Nancy Evans of Lovely, KY, Gladys Faye and Bob Smith of Lovely, KY, Betty Jo and Thomas Dalton of Lovely, KY, Ernestine and William Pearlie Prince of Lovely, KY, Carlos, Jr. and Brenda Evans of Inez, KY, Ronnie and Debbie Evans, of Campbellsville, KY, and Pamela Sue and David Marcum of Georgetown, KY. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Curry of Albuquerque, NM, and three brothers, Junior Murphy of Delbarton, WV, Ronald Murphy of Columbus, OH, and Donald Murphy of Columbus, OH. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, Terressa Evans of GA, Rodney and Teresa Evans of NC, Timmy and Chandra Evans of Lexington, KY, Robbie and Kimberly Smith of Lovely, KY, Melissa and Barney Crouch of Georgetown, KY, Carla and Lester Newsome of Stanford, KY, Renay and Paul Varney of Georgetown, KY, Amanda and Rodney Goble of Georgetown, KY, Sandy Prince and Glen Winfree of Inez, KY, Todd and Donna Evans of NC, Dr. Jason Evans and Leigh Ann Thornsberry of Inez, KY, Kristen and Steven Hale of Lawrence Co., KY, Greg and Jennifer Evans of Campbellsville, KY, Cheris and Casey Evans of Campbellsville, KY, and David Carless (Bubby) and Heather Marcum of Georgetown, KY. She also leaves behind 31 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 12 PM with Herbert "Butch" Cline of Cleveland, TN and Reverend Bill Evans of Lovely, KY. Burial will follow in the Evans Cemetery of Lovely, KY. Family visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM and public visitation from 11 AM until the time of services. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
