Pearl Maynard

Mr. Pearl Maynard was born March 1, 1935 in Warfield, KY to the late Charlie Maynard andthe late Anna Mary Maynard. He entered his eternal home on December 18, 2021 surrounded by his daughters. 

Pearl is preceeded in death by his sisters: Elizabeth Slone, Nellie Spaulding, Grace Slone, Inice Moore, Pauline May, Juanita Shipe, Patty (Doll) Cassady, his grandson: Gregory Jude, and two great-grandchildren: Lucas Michael and Baby B. Baisden.

He is survived by his three daughters, Terry Ann (George) Baisden, Barbara Ellen (Larry) Maynard and Tina Marie (Danny) Parsons of Tomahawk, KY. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Moore, George Baisden II, Danny Jude, Jr., Courtney Tyra-Alise (Derek) Maynard, his siblings, Betty (Tommy) McCoy and Eugene (Nyoka) Maynard. As well as a host of great-grandchildren (Tiarra Moore, Jonathan Jude, Hailey Jude, Sundyna Baisden, Lucretia Baisden, Gabriela (Gabby) Jude, Christian Maynard, Xavier Baisden, and Piper Maynard) and family. 

Pearl was a true Kentuckian growing up in the foothills of Appalachia. He spent his childhood making memories in the hollers and dedicated part of his adulthood to becoming an author, sharing his childhood experiences in the form of children stories, poetry, and songs. He won many awards for his writing abilities and was never one to shy away from busting out in song, preferably Elvis (with the moves to match) or a song he wrote himself (most often one he titled, "Too Ugly to Kiss Goodbye"). He had a true ability to make people laugh with his quick wit and shenanigans. 

When he wasn't writing or singing, he could be found watching Westerns, reading the bible, or listening to the birds white sitting on his porch. Pearl enjoyed the holiday seasons, especially Christmas and reminiscing over his career days, primarily those spent with Thorton's Oil. He was a loving dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 12 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Joe Ed Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the Maynard Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
