Reverend James Maynard Obituary

Reverend James I. Maynard, 82, of Inez, KY, went to be with Jesus on October 31, 2020. Born in Inez, KY, August 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Mark and Virgie Maynard. He was married 51 years to the late Polly Stacy Maynard, who was his best friend and the love of his life. He was a member of the Warfield Church of God for 31 years where he served in many areas including Sunday School Superintendent, nursing home ministry, and moved into his calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ a few years after his salvation. James was a firm believer in sanctification and holiness and was a devout reader of God's word - which was evident by his knowledge of it. His children called him a walking bible. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. You could always count on him to come through for you in prayer, in deed, and always with his great sense of humor. James always had a joy for life but kept his focus on his heavenly home while praying for the lost. His family and friends are deeply saddened by the loss of their spiritual go to person but rejoice that knowing the life he lived would be greeted with "Well done thou good and faithful servant" - a scripture he quoted in most every testimony. James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Polly Stacy Maynard, his daughter, Nadine Maynard Henson, as well as three sisters, Shirley Steward, Hazel Scott, and Ladybug Spence and two brothers, Monroe Maynard and Russel Maynard. James is survived by his five daughters and one son, Margaret (George) Fletcher of Debord, KY, Sue (Gary) Muncy of Russellville, TN, Deborah (Mack) Estep of Morristown, TN, Maddie (Donnie) Howard of Inez, KY, Janet (Kip) Keener of Lovely, KY, and James Isaac Maynard, Jr. of Sumner, IL, his special nephew, Jake "Bubby" (Valerie) Bowen of Beauty, KY as well as his sister, Tora Ann Bowen and four brothers, Okey Maynard of Jackson, OH, and Elza "Bab" (Phyllis) Maynard, Asher Maynard, and Clarence "Buck" Maynard, all of Inez, KY. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Steven Fletcher, Bobby Fletcher, George Fletcher, Jr., Renee Pinson, Brandon Muncy, Falon Hawley, Justin Maynard, Misty Maynard, Savannah Sweeney, Coty Howard, Jared Keener, Kaitlyn Keener, Sarah Kenner, Starla Hudgins, Athena Henson, Danielle McCool, Krystal Brandy McCool, and Terrie McCool and 31 great grandchildren. During his last months of life due to the pandemic, James spent time attending church via Zoom with The Dunkin Fork House of Prayer with his special grandson, Justin Maynard, who introduced him to the world of internet church so that he was able to praise, sing, and worship God from home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Justin Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Garden.
