Rilda (Johnson) Newsome

Rilda Newsome, age 94, of Paintsville, KY, passed away July 18, 2020 at her residence. She was born January 26, 1926 in Floyd County, KY to the late Floyd Johnson and Lina Osborne Johnson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Sumpter and her second husband, Brose Newsome, Jr., Six brothers, Christopher Johnson, Hasdore Johnson, Calvin Johnson,  IB Johnson, Harold Johnson , and Bass Johnson. Also 3 sisters  Eva Johnson Molly Sesco, Geneva Hall. And four infant siblings and one great great grandson Paul Luther Bowen. She is survived by one sister Irene Moore; her five daughters, Geneva (Harry) Wallen of Paintsville, KY, Christine (Steve) Ammons of Providence Forge, VA, Phyllis Ann (David) Conrad of Lake City, FL, Linda Gail (Randy) Lewis of Winchester, KY and Diana (Paul) Fannin of Louisa, KY, two stepdaughters Brenda Fairley and Francis Herbert; 13 grandchildren, Betty Crum Witherspoon, Sonja Crum Andrews, Marlena Sue Crum Gray, Tony Edward Stone, Jimmy Stone, Cherry Stone, Chrisken Stone, Donald Newsome, Angela Newsome Depetris, Ronald Walker, Darinda Newsome, Nichelle Vanderploeg and Beronica Mollett; 26 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Jeremiah Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Floyd County. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
