Ronnie Hickman

Ronnie Hickman, age 65, of Inez, KY passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at ARH Highlands in Prestonsburg, KY.

Born August 12, 1956 in Logan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Troy and Mae Hickman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Hickman, paternal grandparents William and Essie Hickman; maternal grandparents Jobe and Trixie Caines Blackburn; and several aunts and uncles.

Ronnie was a popular sports editor and news writer. He covered Martin County sports and news for 36 years. He worked at The Mountain Citizen from 1990 until the time of his death. Before that, he wrote for The East Kentucky Sun from 1988 to 1990 and The Martin Mercury from 1985 to 1988.

Ronnie is survived by two daughters, Alexxa Jade Hickman and Rhonda Hickman; two brothers, Donnie Hickman and Tom Hickman; one aunt, Thelma Moore; one uncle, Bo Blackburn; his newspaper family; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Jack Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackburn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 11 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral cost. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
