Samuel Lee Sumpter

Samuel Lee Sumpter, age 90, of Inez, KY, passed away October 21, 2023 at Highlands Appalachian Regional Hospital in Prestonsburg, KY. He was born June 11, 1933 in Martin County, KY to the late Milton and Stella Sumpter. In addition to his parent, he is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Ella Rose Sumpter, one son, Randy Sumpter, one daughter, Linda Lou Sumpter, three brothers, Sherman Blackburn, Jack Sumpter, and Robert “Bob” Sumpter, and two sisters, Wilda Vest and Virginia Brobst. He is survived by two sons, Gary Lee (Janet) Sumpter of Louisa, KY, and Samuel Lee (Loretta) Sumpter, Jr. of Tomahawk, KY, and two daughters, Greta Gay (Don) Blackburn and Sandiena (Melvin) Howard, both of Inez, KY. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 1 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Keith Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Mills-Horn-Crum Cemetery.  Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
