Thomas Markin Obituary

Thomas Rolland Markin, age 85, of Westerville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 in Lexington, KY with his son Tommy Markin and stepdaughter Sharon Veihl at his side. He was born January 27, 1936 to the late Lewis Daniel Markin and Almeda Jane Markin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, Robert, James, Clarence and Frank and four children, Vickie (Robert) Tipton, Timmy Markin, Tony (Lucy) Markin and newborn baby Markin. He is survived by his children, Connie (Bob) Cain, Terri (Vaughn) Graham, Tina (Stephen) Battle, Frederick (Danielle) Kauser, Julie Griffith Long, Mark (Claire) Markin, Tommy Markin, Tonya Jones and Mel Markin, and his stepchildren, Theresa (Art) Hileman, Sharon Veihl and Jodi Lynn (David) Day. Thomas joined the USMC and served in the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service metal, Korean service metal, and the United Nations service medal. Once he returned to the US, he was in a serious automobile accident that kept him from employment for a few years. He later become a entrepreneur throughout his life. His greatest work trait was "Marketing." His favorite sayings were, "You cant just talk the talk you got to walk the walk" and "I'm doing great for an old antique." Thomas enjoyed being around his grandchildren, great grandchildren and all children in general. He loved kids. He was a charter member of the Maize Manor United Methodist Church "North Linden" Columbus, Ohio.

The family would like to extend an heartfelt thank you to their brother, Tommy Markin, who gave their dad exactly what he wanted which was to be with Tommy at the end of his life. He opened up his doors and took many hours and days from work and even at lunch to come home and administer his medication and help the nurses with daily care to keep dad comfortable. He kept him company and took no time for himself. He totally focused on dad. So thank you brother. We know this is the hardest loss for any person can go through, both emotionally and physically. You are one of a kind and we cannot thank you enough.

We would also like to thank Bluegrass Hospice of Lexington, KY for their dedication, support and love that they showed to our father.

Finally, to his stepdaughter, Sharon. It is beyond words for us to be able to express our appreciation during the last two weeks of his life. She gave such good care to dad and shared love with him. We appreciate you letting us all know and see him from afar.

There will be a private service for the family on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
