Vadis Gauze, 96, of Tomahawk, KY passed away April 15, 2023. Born February 1, 1927 in Pilgrim, KY to the late Rowland and Zelphie Preece Gauze. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are Doris Ella Gauze his wife of 41 years, six brothers, Jimmy, Sherman, Orville, Eckel, Freelin and Lucian Gauze; and six sisters, Flora Moore, Florence Hale, Mildred Howard, Minerva Jones, Hazel and Ruby Pigg. Surviving are 37 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and his children and stepchildren he raised and loved as his own, Darlene (Lee) Moore, Garry (Denise) Gauze, Vadis Chip (Teresa) Gauze, Terry (Sheila) Howell, Sherry (George) Brown, Gary (Debbie) Howell, Barry Howell, Debbie Hill and Roger Honrine. Vadis was a Christian for many decades who loved reading and talking about the bible. He was retired from Kermit Coal Company. The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration Homebased Program and its dedicated workers who provided care for Vadis his last few years and Martin County Health Care Facility. The "Old Timer" lived a long life here on earth, but now as a child of God he is rejoicing with his heavenly father. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11 AM in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Lonnie Smith and Danny Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Warfield Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5 PM to 9 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez, KY.
